Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: KANDY
You will be greeted by a ‘Hi Tours’ ambassador at the Colombo International Airport followed by a drive to the Kandy, the town of hills. You will check in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the nearby places. Kandy is very popular for its historical temple dedicated to the Lord Buddha. Also, a man-made adored the heart of the town and the island is a great escape. Therefore, during the leisure time of the day, you may wish to pay a visit to Sri Dalada Maligawa Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. It hosts the sacred relic of Buddha's tooth. Due to this reason, Kandy is a World Heritage Site that just makes it another reason to visit the town.
DAY 2: KANDY
The second day of your Classic Ceylon Tea Tour is entirely dedicated for a tea trip to Loolecondera Tea Plantation and Ceylon Tea Museum with a traditional Kandy Dance show marking the end of the day. Firstly, visit Loolecondera Tea Plantation where the authentic Sri Lankan tea took birth in 1852. Also, it has the longest tea factory in the whole of Sri Lanka. Here you can find the finest and tender tea buds known as Silver tips. Secondly, visit the Ceylon Tea Museum which is massive consisting of four floors. Here you can gaze upon the ancient machinery, and books in the library. Also, you can attend an audio-video show at the auditorium. Then you can take a retail therapy buying the most exclusive and finest quality of Ceylon Tea. Head to the top floor to capture heartwarming views of the Kandy town. Finally, attend the Kandy Dance show that features the various dance forms of Kandy inspired by martial arts. The dancers wear attractive attires reflecting the magnificence of Sri Lankan culture.
DAY 3: NUWARA ELIYA
Treat yourself with a delicious breakfast at the hotel and head to Nuwara Eliya. Stop by the beautiful Peradeniya Gardens that houses an enormous and stunning collection of flowers and plants like orchids, palm and figs, originating in different parts of the world. Also, if you are lucky enough then you may be able to see various species of butterflies and birds hovering over the brightly coloured flora. Then continue your journey to Nuwara Eliya while having a quick break at Labukke tea centre for tea. During the journey, you will get to see the heartwarming beauty of the greenery and tea plantations that are sure to steal away your heart. Nuwara Eliya is popularly known as Little England because of the surrounding mountains sprinkled with mist.
Lastly, head to the Pedro Estate for tasting the famed Nuwara Eliya Tea. Stay overnight at the hotel
DAY 4: NUWARA ELIYA
Go for an excursion at the Horton Plains. It is the highest plateau in Sri Lanka and home to the dense forests that reflect bright greenery. Head to the top of the gorge while passing through the mesmerizing montane forests housing plenty of species of birds. Then savour the bites of “tea cuisine” at the hotel. Most importantly, indulge in a tea plucking session where you pluck the tea leaves that you want following by its manufacturing according to the norms. Lastly, you will sip the tea you plucked and take the rest of it back home.
DAY 5: TISSAMAHARAMA
Get ready to leave for Yala early in the morning. Stop by the Ravana Waterfalls. Also, unwinding from the tea tour, visit the Yala National Park and catch unmatched glimpses of leopards, elephants, bears, sambur, spotted deer and many other species of animals and plants. Come back to the hotel and have a comfortable overnight stay there.
DAY 6: TISSAMAHARAMA
Grab a filling breakfast at the hotel and spend some time walking around in a leisurely morning. Then hop aboard a jeep safari in Yala National Park and gaze upon the habitats of leopards consisting of woodlands, light forests, lagoons and grasslands. In the evening, come back to the hotel and enjoy the facilities of the hotel.
DAY 7: GALLE
Have a nice breakfast at the hotel and head towards Galle. Check in to the hotel at Galle. In Sri Lanka, Galle is nothing short of a gem. Being a World Heritage Site, this city brims with history. History buffs will surely love exploring this place full of Dutch-style buildings, mosques and churches that hide the tales from the past. Also, enormous mansions and museums are manifesting intriguing history. Come back to the hotel and get relieved from the tiredness of the day.
DAY 8: GALLE
Have breakfast at the hotel and leave for Handunugoda Tea Plantations. It is a very renowned plantation, known for its white virgin tea. Also, visit the tea museum. Then make way to the tea factory. Learn about the low-grown Rahuna tea plantations, and the necessary climatic and geographical conditions required for their production. The Ruhuna factories are known for the wide variety of productions. Lastly, enjoy a tea tasting session of Rahuna trees. Come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
DAY 9: GALLE
Have a great breakfast at the hotel and spend a day enjoying the facilities at the hotel and relaxing at the nearby beach. Then go for the orientation tour of Galle city. Firstly, visit the Galle Fort that took 100 years to finally get completed and is a World Heritage Site. Secondly, visit Galle Lighthouse which was the first lighthouse in Sri Lanka. Finally, come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
DAY 10: COLOMBO
Have a filling breakfast at the hotel and leave for Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka. After arriving in Sri Lanka, go for local sightseeing through the colonial buildings reflecting different times of history. Also, stop by any bar run by Dilmah Tea. Sip the tea while knowing about the tea experiences and other things in Colombo. Come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
DAY 11: COLOMBO
Take a breakfast in the hotel and leave for a hunt for Tea & Tea Related products on sale in Colombo. Located in the Arcade Independence Square, the t-Lounge by Dilmah lets you retreat from the bustle of everyday lives and relax in luxury. Explore the various flavours of tea and get involved in colourful traditions of tea culture.
Optionally, you can attend the Colombo Tea Auction which is held twice a week( Tuesday, 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 08:00 a.m. to 04:00 p.m.) and needs a prior reservation. It is known that around 700 factories and 450 registered buyers participate in this auction and it’s the World’s Largest Single Origin Tea Auction.
DAY 12: END OF ITINERARY
You will have breakfast at the hotel. Then you will be transferred to the Colombo International Airport to pursue your onward journey.
