Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: COLOMBO
You will be met by our representative at the Bandaranaike International Airport and then transferred to Colombo. Check in to Tintagel Colombo Hotel and get ready for a city tour around Colombo touching some of the most iconic sites. Firstly, visit Gangaramaya Temple which is a unique blend of modern architecture stirred with a cultural essence. It reflects the regional intricacies of Thai, India, Sri Lanka and China. Secondly, visit the Pettah neighbourhood which is lined with an array of open-air bazaars and attractive markets. Thirdly, pay your respects at the Independence Memorial Hall, the national monument of Sri Lanka. Here, you will be able to look back upon the time of independence of Sri Lanka. Lastly, ride a Tuk Tuk and head towards the Dutch Hospital which is a shopping arena. Come back to your hotel and spend a cosy night.
DAY 2: ANURADHAPURA
Have a nice breakfast at the hotel and head to Anuradhapura. After reaching Anuradhapura, the greatest and oldest civilisation of Sri Lanka, take a city tour. On a city tour, you will get to know the rich culture and heritage of Sri Lanka. Walk along the beautiful and sacred trails of the city and watch upon the holy statues of Budhha and Isurumuniya Rock Temple. Come back to the hotel and stay overnight.
DAY 3: SIGIRIYA
After breakfast at the hotel, you will reach Dambulla. Here, you will visit the Dambulla Cave Temple which is an iconic symbol of Sri Lanka in the first century B.C. It consists of five cave temples that feature extremely beautiful paintings from the past. The walls of the temples houses 150 magnificent statues of Buddha. As soon as you enter the premises, you will be able to see the giant golden statue of Lord Buddha. After completing the tour of Dambulla Cave Temple, head to Sigiriya. Check in to Jetwing Vil Uyana, Sigiriya. Stay overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4: SIGIRIYA
Have a filling breakfast at the hotel and reach Sigiriya Lion’s Rock. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its massive size, intricate architecture, and paintings that adorn the walls of the Rock. It’s definitely an everlasting experience to step through giant lion’s paws and make your way through the rock. Then you will be transferred to Hiriwadunna and go around the village which boasts of cheerful activities, mesmerising jungles and heartwarming views of birds and wildlife. Stop by the Chena cultivation and enjoy the hospitality. Also, have a lunch of traditional local food in a local home. Come back to Sigiriya and spend some time on leisure at the hotel.
DAY 5: KANDY
Have a delicious breakfast at the hotel, leave for Matale. Tour around the fragrant and beautiful spice gardens contributing largely to the production of vegetables, rubber, tea and spices. Taste the fresh herbal tea by stopping by a side and roam around to absorb the true culture of the place. Afterwards, head on to Kandy and go for an enchanting city tour around the town of hills. Also, don’t forget to visit the Temple of the Relic Of Sacred Tooth devoted to Lord Buddha. Furthermore, go for an evening stroll in the attractive bazaars and look upon the artefacts, gems and fresh fruits and vegetables. Lastly, come back to your hotel in Kandy, The Kandy House and stay overnight.
DAY 6: KANDY
Have a nice breakfast at your hotel and plan your independent itinerary for the day. Some of the things you can do are visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and go trekking at Udawatta Lake. The Peradeniya Botanical Garden is an excellent choice for a day of leisure because of its well-manicured gardens, pavilions and the bed of brightly coloured flora that are sure to bound you under the spell of their beauty. The garden has an inbuilt cafeteria to meet all your cravings. Also, the giant Javan Fig tree and the orchid house are key attractions here. Secondly, Udawatta Lake is a great escape to satisfy your adventure thrills by trekking at the lake. In the evening, come back and relax at the hotel.
DAY 7: ELLA
After breakfast, you will drive to Ella. Tour around the city and visit the Ravana Waterfalls. These are extremely popular and stunning waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Then explore Ravana Caves that have a history associated with Ravana and Sita. It is believed that Ravan kept Sita hidden in these caves. Then lastly, visit the Nine Arch Bridge that is truly a marvel in itself. Come back to your hotel in Ella, 98 Acres Resort and Spa.
DAY 8: ELLA
After breakfast at the boutique hotel, head up for trekking along with the Ella Rock. The Ella Rock is famed for offering fabulous panoramic views of the surrounding city. Also, it is one of the best places to combine the thrill of trekking with the scenic views of mountains and tea plantations. Furthermore, enjoy some cooking demonstration of the authentic Sri Lankan cuisines. Spend the rest of the evening while walking around the town and enjoying the amenities of the hotel. Stay overnight at the hotel.
DAY 9: YALA
After breakfast at the hotel in Ella, drive to the greatest national park of Sri Lanka in Yala. The Yala National Park is huge and spread over an area of 1259 kilometres. Also, the Yala National Park has abundant striking varieties of flora and fauna. Go for an afternoon safari at the Yala National Park and capture enchanting views of the species of animals. It houses some of the most endemic species. For example, elephants, sloth bears, leopards, jackals etc. The geographical location and the climatic conditions of the place are some of the factors that owing to the richness of wildlife and flora in this region. After spending the afternoon amidst nature, stay overnight at your hotel.
DAY 10: YALA
Fill yourself with a good breakfast at the hotel. This day is left at leisure for planning your independent itinerary. However, if you wish to, then you can visit Kataragama Temple. Also, you can do some bird watching at the Kumana National Park. And lastly, you may visit Embakke Devale and Lakathilanke Vihara. Stay overnight at your hotel.
DAY 11: WELIGAMA
After breakfast at the hotel in Yala, make your way to the scenic land of Weligama. A fishing town, Weligama has everything to offer to the divers and surfers to have their ways of adventure with the soft waves of water. The beaches are heartwarming and will surely leave you spellbound. The crystal blue waters lined with golden sand of the beach are truly stunning. You can relax and do the fun activities at the Weligama beach or simply sunbath at the beach. Come back to the hotel to spend a comfy night.
DAY 12: WELIGAMA
Have a great breakfast and reach Galle to take a history tour around the city of Galle. Visit the iconic Galle Fort which took a hundred years to get completed and is a World Heritage Site. Then visit the Galle Lighthouse which was the first lighthouse in Sri Lanka. Come back to the hotel in Weligama.
DAY 13: END OF ITINERARY
Treat yourself with a good breakfast at the hotel and leave for Colombo International Airport to pursue your onward journey.
